Hear the Song of the Fox River
Posted on May 23, 2010 at 8:19 pm

Geese at Lutz Park

Boating at Lutz ParkFishing at Lutz ParkAppleton locals are proud to share the newly rebuilt Lutz Park located beside the Fox River. The Appleton Yacht Club has their boats moored there. Lutz Park is located approximately one mile southwest from the bed and breakfast. We will definitely recommend for our guests to take a pleasant neighborhood walk, drive or bike ride over to the park.

Ron and Judy, innkeepers, rode their bikes down to the park on a beautiful Spring day to check out all of the action. Lutz Park provides a spot to get up close and personal with the Fox River. What will you find down by the river? Sit on the bench swing by the river. Try to catch some fish off the dock. Watch the geese or the boats go by. Dress for the weather and you may take home a nice suntan, also. We will be directing our guests to enjoy some quality time by the river during their Appleton visit.

Looking for a Brewpub in Appleton, WI
Posted on March 31, 2010 at 3:12 pm

Here is a brewpub that has history and has survived through the years! Anton Fischer built the first brewerry in Appleton. Carl Muench purchased the Fischer brewery in 1860. It became an institution in Appleton, according to the citizens. The Muench Brewery on South Oneida Street was rebuilt after a fire in 1884. Now the Stone Cellar, but formerly, Appleton Brewing Company, was built in 1958.

If you have not discovered the Stone Cellar Brewpub in Appleton yet, then check it out when looking for a unique experience. It is located Between the Locks in a 150 year old stone building. It is the home of 10 hand-crafted fresh and natural beers. Ron enjoyed sampling the Houdini Honey Wheat beer which won the Chief of Beers in 2005.

When you are there, you will be tempted with pub fare with a flair! Ron & Judy tried two new entries. Ron ate the Shepherds Pie which is a traditional English style stew served thick and hearty with chunky beef, vegetables, and a cheesy mashed potato crust. Judy ate Cajun Alfredo Linguini with shrimp, andouille sausage, and roasted red peppers. We were completely delighted, two thumbs up!

Plans are for a monthly Beer vs. Wine Gourmet 5 Course Meal which is a new twist on an unbelievable dining experience! With each course, they will pair a beer and a wine and have the participants vote as to which beverage pairs better with the course. $49 per person Next events are Tuesday, April 27 and May 25, 2010.
